The 1986 Canadian YBC championships were held in
Winnipeg. Fairhaven won the city championship with a score of 3,317 and
then won the provincial championship with a score of 3,086.
Schewaga cracked her ribs during a gold medal performance at the 1986
Saskatchewan Winter Games. Fairhaven could have chosen an injury
replacement but the girls elected to go with their original lineup.
Schewaga played with injured ribs at the provincials.
At the nationals Fairhaven rolled to gold medal honours by winning 15
out of its 18 matches. They won five out of 6 matches on the final day.
Kawchuk and Schewaga averaged 233 during the tournament.
